Meet the family behind French & Fast

Ted and Michele, along with their son Ben, are bringing French-inspired takeout, delivery, and catering to West Chester. Ted is a classically trained chef with deep roots in French cuisine, having honed his craft under Master Chef Christian Deslandes, while Ben is the baker behind the sweets that round out the menu. Michele brings a marketer’s eye and a love of hospitality, balancing Mistral with her work as a director at a local software development and consulting company.

Mistral is our way of making French-inspired food work for real life - fast, convenient, and made from scratch. Operating out of the commercial kitchen in the basement of First Presbyterian Church, we offer an affordable alternative to traditional restaurant dining. Our menu leans into comfort food and rustic regional dishes, rounded out with globally inspired specials that still stay true to French technique and tradition.

Ted’s connection to France is personal: his mother immigrated from Marseille to Charleston, SC after World War II. Michele’s family history also carries French roots, tracing back to Huguenot ancestors who settled in Charleston generations ago. Together, we channel that shared heritage into a neighborhood kitchen rooted in French tradition.
